Our Beloved Ship Sings a Christmas Carol

from The Retreat by Black Warrior Lures

/

about

We return to our beloved ship, a living, sentient space war-lobster. This particular ship is playful and likes to sing. Although he often tries to sing songs more palatable to the crew, there are times when he chooses to sing in his own tongue.

Here the crew celebrates Christmas, during the Christmas party the ship decides to sing.

PATCH NOTES:
This is my first attempt at the Krell patch. It has taken nearly three years of sonic exploration on the modular synthesizer to understand the concepts necessary to build a Krell patch.

The Krell patch for modular synthesis was developed by Todd Barton on the Buchla system as modular synthesized-inspired version of the 1956 film "The Forbidden Planet" where a scientist explores an extinct race of Krell. The score was composed by Bebe and Louis Barron, pioneers in electronic music, specifically magnetic tape. Bebe and Lousie built their own electronic circuits during a time before synthesizers. Both Todd, Bebe and Louis have contributed to the formation of this style of patchng.

What's significant is this electronic music score preceded synthesizers by eight years, the school built before the old school.
